Chalk Lettering

Welcome!

I am so glad you are here to learn how to make amazing lettered pieces with chalk!  Before we get started, you will need a few basic materials.  If you didn’t purchase a kit, use this Shopping List right here!  I recommend a board at least 8″x10″.  The chalkboard I will be using is 12″x16″.  Of course, a bigger one is just fine too!  I have a large board hanging in my hallway that I letter on regularly!

Additionally, go ahead and grab this handout that will help you as you go through the class!

If you have any questions, drop me a line at lesley@letteringwithlesley.com and I will get back to you as soon as I can.  Before we get started, I wanted to offer you a few tips!  Be patient with yourself – it is really challenging to learn a new skill.  No one develops chalk skills overnight!  I tell my letterers, if you practice for two weeks for just 15 minutes a day, you will see a huge improvement!  The same goes for chalk lettering.  Allow yourself time to practice to get better and better.  If you can’t make seem to make a particular technique work, skip it and come back!  Everyone develops at their own pace.   And my last piece of advice, don’t wear black – you will be a chalky mess!

Now, go ahead and get started with you chalk lettering!  Please, share your work with me on Facebook or Instagram or in my Facebook lettering group!  The group is a supportive community of learners who share their work and provide feedback and encouragement!  Plus, if you have a general lettering question, this is a great place to start!  I also share tutorials and other goodies here too!

Now, get your letter on!
